The Commission has adopted the Australasian Institute for Judicial Administration Incorporated ‘Guide to Judicial Conduct’ (the Guide) as guidelines about the standards of ethical and professional conduct expected of judicial officers. The Guide provides judicial officers with practical guidance about the standards of conduct expected of them, but it is not a code or set of rules.
The Commission also has made guidelines on conduct and practice pursuant to its professional standards functions under section 134(1) of the Judicial Commission of Victoria Act 2016 (the Act). These can be accessed below.
The Commission has published a policy that guides how it makes decisions about publishing information about complaints in accordance with the Judicial Commission of Victoria Act 2016.
